Great British Spring Clean 2026

13-29 martie 2026

Great British Spring Clean 2026

Pinner & Pinner South

Vi 13 Mar 2026

Our opening event drew 20 volunteers, including newcomers who joined as the morning went on. Two teams covered streets and Pinner Recreation Ground, finding the main roads fairly clear but the hedgerows heavily loaded. At least 35 bags were collected across about 4 km, along with unbaggable items and a sharps find that was safely disposed of.

Rayners Lane & Roxbourne

Sâ 14 Mar 2026

28 volunteers covered at least 3.5 km through streets and parks, collecting around 40 bags. Routes were shortened where bush bins slowed progress, but splitting into two teams kept coverage strong. Finds of the day ranged from historic currency to a misidentified cannabis grinder.

Kenton West & Greenhill

Du 15 Mar 2026

Two groups nearly completed the planned circuit and covered about 3 km, collecting 32 bags plus a large amount of unbaggable waste. Much of the litter had been thrown over back fences, and one pocket of fly-tipping was too hazardous to clear fully in the time available. The same stretch had been tackled in the previous year's Spring Clean, so most of this waste had built up within a year.

Kenton East

Lu 16 Mar 2026

After a recce showed the original 3 km plan was too ambitious, the route was shortened to around 2 km. Volunteers still collected about 50 bags — the biggest haul of the campaign so far — with support from regular local walkers and visitors from further afield. Wetland condition was also surveyed along the way.

Headstone

Ma 17 Mar 2026

13 volunteers marked a year since HLP became a registered charity by clearing greenery around Headstone Manor, collecting 39 bags plus assorted oddments. It was a bright, upbeat morning and a chance to celebrate how far the group had come.

Hatch End

Mi 18 Mar 2026

Hatch End proved one of the toughest sessions despite the sunshine. Volunteers covered around 2 km and collected 46 bags, making a strong dent in long-built-up litter around the Art Centre bushes while leaving plenty still to return to on a future focused clean.

Harrow Weald

Jo 19 Mar 2026

Two teams shared the morning: one tackled a Waitrose car park and its clogged bushes, while the other walked about 2 km of roads and parks. Together they collected 58 bags, plus rubble and other unbaggables, with commercial bins taking some of the car-park waste.

Belmont & Centenary

Vi 20 Mar 2026

Belmont and Centenary saw a strong turnout for a circular walk covering about 4 km of streets and nature trail. Around 30 bags were collected, along with a hidden fly-tip dragged from the undergrowth, while enforcement support helped clear cigarette ends at Belmont Circle.

Harrow on the Hill & Marlborough

Lu 23 Mar 2026

A record weekday turnout of 36 volunteers collected 58 bags, including a large haul from the TfL station car park, plus a substantial amount of unbaggable waste. Nitrous oxide canisters were plentiful in bushes and around the station, and time ran out before Lyon Road could be fully cleared.

West Harrow & North Harrow

Ma 24 Mar 2026

21 volunteers worked West Harrow and North Harrow, collecting 39 bags plus many larger unbaggable items. The finds table overflowed with oddities — from tools and toys to a xylophone crowned find of the day — and local cafés and growing projects added a warm community feel.

Stanmore

Mi 25 Mar 2026

Eight volunteers set out on a planned 3 km route in Stanmore but were slowed by dense historic litter, covering about 1 km in an hour and collecting roughly 33 bags. The contrast with regularly picked areas was stark, and it was clear the stretch — including Brockhurst Corner Estate — will need further dedicated sessions.

Wealdstone North & Wealdstone South

Jo 26 Mar 2026

13 volunteers, including three new members, were hosted with refreshments in Wealdstone and collected around 30 bags on a sunny morning. Finds included nitrous oxide canisters and tools alongside the usual street litter.

Canons

Vi 27 Mar 2026

Volunteers worked the edge of Stanmore Marsh and the Spinney woodland path toward Canons Park, removing around half a skip load of waste from a beautiful but heavily trashed stretch. Unusual finds ranged from decades-old clothing to alcohol containers and even a sawn-off shotgun.

Edgware

Sâ 28 Mar 2026

Returning to streets around Chandos Park and Edgware Brook, the group collected 23 bags and noted clear progress from earlier brook work. New volunteers joined along the way, and the park looked bright in the sunshine.

Roxeth

Du 29 Mar 2026

27 volunteers closed the series in Roxeth, covering around 5 km and clearing over 80 bags.
