There are many ways to help keep your community clean. Every bit you do makes a difference.
Removing fly-tips as quickly as possible discourages people from leaving more rubbish and helps catch those who fly-tip. It's very easy to Report a fly-tip via Harrow Council's website. It is worth keeping in mind that it can take from a few hours to a few days before the fly-tip is collected (and/or investigated) by the Council teams.
If you have evidence (e.g. photos/videos) of a fly-tipping incident occurring or if you find physical evidence (e.g. documents) pointing to a potential suspect, the best thing to do is submit a witness statement to Harrow Council, as that can lead to a fine being given or even prosecution. Download and fill in the Witness Statement Form (MG11), then e-mail it to priority.enforcement@harrow.gov.uk along with a photo of the fly tip and a photo of the evidence.
Use your own bins and make sure they don't overflow. It's equally important to put the right type of rubbish in the right bin. You can read about the Different Waste Bin Types.
If you need to get rid of larger items, that may not fit in your household bins, Harrow offers a FREE bulky waste collection once every 12 months and you can Book A Bulky Waste Collection.
The Harrow Recycling Centre in Wealdstone is where you can bring general, garden waste and bulky items to be sorted and recycled. It is FREE for all Harrow residents, but you need to Book your recycling centre visit in advance.
We can provide rubbish sacks, litter-pickers and bag hoops. Check out our How to obtain a litter-picking kit guide, where you will find all our equipment hubs. The equipment is kindly provided by Harrow Council. While we are always glad to see people join group events, you can also work independently, like many of our members.
We are very active on our Harrow Litter Pickers Facebook Group , where the majority of group events are posted and where you can also keep up to date with the brilliant work of all the other volunteers. Alternatively, you can follow our Instagram page.
